This bed is inspired by the pillars of Pikler-Lóczy pedagogy which are independent activities and free motor skills. With a base close to the ground, it is easy to access to get up and down independently, and reduces the risk of falling when doing so alone, especially when our children are tired or just emerging.
This model also provides greater protection against falls thanks to its raised corners which also allow children to snuggle up to sleep.
As sleep is a key phase of development, it is important that it does not cause stress. The Iris bed allows our children to go to bed of their own accord and reduces the risk of feeling bedtime as a constraint. In the same way, by being able to get out of bed alone, they do not have to call, have to shout, or even get frustrated because someone is late in coming.
This autonomy makes it easier to create their own bedtime routines. They can be continuous with habits developed with parents or be new habits constructed independently.
This bed also offers the possibility of playing, reading, living without the intervention of an adult being necessary, but also of sharing quiet moments together before bed to read a story, talk about your day or have a hug before sleeping.

The carpentry of Anna has made children's beds its core business, with the mission to create furniture that will serve both as a support for healthy and restful sleep, and for playtime moments that will stimulate their imagination for as long as possible. It is therefore not surprising that the watchwords of her team are: safety, comfort, design, and sturdiness.
It is in their workshop in southeastern Poland that their designers design elegant and timeless pieces made from pine wood sourced from sustainable forests. Because a room must also be alive, Anna's beds will activate your child's energy during the day, and protect their sleep at night.
What is the educational benefit of this product?
A child's bed is one of the first places they learn to move their body. The different stages of this learning, as described in the Pikler-Lóczy pedagogy, will start from the position lying on the back, then turn the head, move the hands, then turn on the side, roll over on your stomach, roll over on your back, spend time on your stomach, stretch, roll, crawl on your stomach then on all fours, get up, sit, stand, and finally walk on your own.
His bed will accompany each of these stages of his development. There he will build his routines and habits for getting up and going to bed, central concepts in the approaches of Rudolf Steiner and Charlotte Mason.
From this point of view, it will be a support for one's autonomy and freedom - to play as well as to choose when to go to bed - so dear to Emmi Pikler as to Maria Montessori.
What is the interest from a neuroscience point of view?
- Contributes to the child’s sleep and brain plasticity.
What is the role of sleep in brain development and plasticity?
During the day, everything that a child experiences actively, and even sometimes passively, will act on his learning, and therefore his plasticity. When he is awake, his experiences will release neurotransmitters which “mark” the neurons and synapses involved in these different experiences to then strengthen neuronal circuits. But the remodeling of neuronal connections itself occurs during sleep.
Quality rest involves several things for our child:
- a fully regenerated energy level, which optimizes your level of concentration.
- an optimal level of concentration during moments of activity which will promote cognitive development.
- the facilitation of cerebral plasticity.
Good sleep is therefore more restorative and offers our children all the energy they need to learn, flourish and develop to their best.
What is the point of this product in summary?
- Facilitate sleep and plasticity.
- Learn to be independent.
- Develop routines and habits.
