This bed is inspired by the pillars of Pikler-Lóczy pedagogy: independent activity and freedom of movement. With a base close to the floor, it is easy to get in and out of bed independently, and reduces the risk of falling when doing so alone, especially when children are tired or have just woken up.

This model also offers greater protection against falls thanks to its raised corners, which also let children snuggle up in bed.

Since sleep is a key stage of development, it is important that it is not a source of stress. The Iris bed allows children to go to bed on their own and reduces the risk of bedtime feeling like a chore. Likewise, being able to get out of bed on their own means they do not have to call out or shout, or get frustrated when someone takes a while to come.

This independence makes it easier to create their own bedtime routines. These can build on habits developed with their parents or be new habits formed independently.

This bed also offers the opportunity to play, read and spend time independently, without adult intervention, while also sharing quiet moments together before bedtime to read a story, talk about the day or cuddle before sleep.

What is the educational value of this product?

A child's bed is one of the first places where they learn to move their body. The different stages of this learning process, as described in Pikler-Lóczy pedagogy, begin with lying on their back, then turning their head, moving their hands, turning onto their side, rolling onto their stomach, returning to their back, spending time on their stomach, stretching, rolling, crawling on their stomach and then on all fours, standing up, sitting down, standing unaided, and finally walking independently.

Their bed will support each of these stages of development. It is where they will establish their routines and habits for getting up and going to bed, concepts that are central to the approaches of Rudolf Steiner and Charlotte Mason.

From this perspective, it will support their autonomy and freedom - both to play in it and to choose when to go to bed - values that are highly important to Emmi Pikler and Maria Montessori.

What role does sleep play in development and brain plasticity?

During the day, everything a child experiences actively, and sometimes even passively, affects their learning and therefore their plasticity. When they are awake, their experiences release neurotransmitters that “mark” the neurons and synapses involved in these different experiences, thereby strengthening neural circuits. However, the remodeling of the neural connections themselves takes place during sleep.

Quality rest involves several things for our child: 

- fully restored energy levels, which optimize their concentration.

- optimal concentration during their active periods, which promotes their cognitive development.

- facilitating their brain plasticity.
Good sleep is therefore more restorative and gives our children all the energy they need to learn, thrive, and develop to the best of their abilities.

• This product is shipped from Poland by our manufacturing partner Anna.
• This item is made to order and has a manufacturing lead time of 3 to 4 weeks. Delivery then takes 5 business days.
• Shipping is handled by UPS, except in exceptional circumstances. 
• Once your parcel has been shipped, a tracking number will be sent to you by email.

Returns 

Have you received your item but it is not suitable for you? Don’t worry, you have 14 days from the date of receipt of your parcel to return the product concerned. 

As a small family business, we are unfortunately not yet able to cover postage costs, and lreturn shipping costs are the customer’s responsibility, and returns must be sent to the country from which this product was shipped, Poland.

To be eligible for a return, please ensure that the following conditions are met :

• The product must arrive in its original and complete condition (packaging, accessories, instructions).
• The request must not concern custom-made products for which the customer provided personalization details (for example, a cutting or manufacturing dimension).

Please understand that we cannot accept assembled, used, or worn items, as they cannot be put back on sale.

The refund will be issued within 14 days after receipt of the products, for the full amount of the returned products, using the same payment method as the one used when placing the order.
