This Pikler Lóczy triangle finds its roots both in the concept of free play put forward by active pedagogies and in the principle of free motor skills advocated by Emmi Pikler.
It promotes the autonomy of our children from their first steps and grows with them to offer them numerous possibilities for play and movement, allowing them to develop their creativity, agility and motor skills in their “yes space”.
Its segments offer a wide range of different configurations, which gives beginners the chance to start with a triangle with gentle slopes, easier to climb with its solid rungs adapted to their hands and feet, which will quickly become more difficult to cross in adjusting its angles to make them more acute.
The 2-in-1 evolving triangle can then take various shapes so that children can climb it while trying different movements and postures. Thus, it could be two distinct triangles, an inclined plane, or an arch, where their motor skills will be put to the test during games where they will imagine that they are perched on the roof of a house or they discover a mysterious cave.
For infants, it will already be used to install their mobiles. As they grow, they will discover their bodies, try new positions, invent new games, make a tent, a cabin, a motor skills course... providing once again proof of their overflowing imagination.
Its ramp will serve as an indoor slide or footbridge on one side and a climbing wall on the other side with its stones adapted to children's hands, which they will have fun crossing, going up or down, from the front, from behind, standing, on all fours, or sliding on the buttocks.
Thanks to its attachments, the sections of the triangle can be attached to the wall to make a Swedish wall on which children will tackle verticality by climbing it and defy gravity by hanging from it, thus developing their balance and motor skills while strengthening their muscles and the coordination of their movements - with a gymnastics wall at home!

The company of Sabine is focused on children, but just as importantly on the time they spend with their families. Among the many lessons of active pedagogies, one of the main ones is that children develop best when they are both happy and autonomous. It was from their home in Latvia that Sabine and her family embraced these principles, drawing inspiration from the teachings of Maria Montessori and Emmi Pikler to create something unique. Drawing on a family spirit and a tradition of carpentry, they handcraft safe furniture, which helps children develop through movement while spending time with their loved ones, and always having fun.
What is the educational benefit of this product?
In the Pikler-Lóczy pedagogy, children aged 0 to 3 learn to know their body and control its movements. We let him do it, without intervening in his postures, he initiates his movements: this is the principle of free motor skills.
The triangle gives children a unique free motor skill support. They will climb, descend, use their arms, their legs, but also their hands and their feet, and it is in fact their entire body that they will activate to coordinate their movements.
At Maria Montessori, repetition plays an essential place in development. A child repeats as long as it is interesting for him, until he masters an exercise, an activity, a movement. During the sensitive period of coordination of movements (from approximately 18 months to 4 years), the advantage of the triangle is to offer numerous opportunities for movement, to try, do, repeat, until each gesture is mastered. .
The Pikler-Lóczy triangle also represents an opportunity for children to do more than just support motor skills, and it is the concept of free play, dear to Rudolf Steiner, which will take shape when they give free rein to their imagination.
What is the interest from a neuroscience point of view?
- Participation in sensorimotor development* (*Through the coordination of their movements and the adjustment of their posture.).
- Strengthening neural circuits through repetition of movements.
What is sensorimotor development?
Sensorimotor development is the process by which children develop their senses and learn to perform, control and coordinate their movements.
The senses include the best known ones: sight, hearing, smell, taste, touch, but also balance (thanks to the vestibular system) and proprioception (position of the body in space, given by the somatosensory system).
These different senses work in concert with each other and with the motor system.
In terms of motor development, we can distinguish two main categories of motor skills:
- gross motor skills, which refers to movements of the whole body or the large limbs and muscles of the body (legs, arms, trunk, head),
- fine motor skills, which refers to the movements of smaller muscles and limbs (fingers, hands, wrists, feet, ankles, toes, lips, tongue).
What age groups is it suitable for?
The Scalable Triangle can be actively used as a brachiation bar from the time your child tries to stand up on their own, then in its triangle function once they are able to stand, and up to approximately 8 years. It can be climbed but also used as an indoor slide by combining it with its ramp, or even as a tent, cabin, etc.
What is the point of this product in summary?
- Develop your motor skills, and particularly the coordination of your movements.
- Learn to be independent.
- Strengthen his self-confidence.
