The modular bookcase storage chest is more than just a place to store our children’s belongings.
Its sloped design provides an immediate view of everything stored inside, and thanks to its small size, even the youngest children can easily access their favorite items - as well as put them away again easily on their own, thereby developing their independence.

In addition to its surprising capacity (around thirty medium- to large-sized books can be stored inside), its clever design also allows the divider to be moved to adjust the size of its two compartments, or simply removed to create a single storage space for larger toys, activities, games, stuffed animals, and other items belonging to our children.

This storage box allows them to follow their own pace by adapting the presence and arrangement of their belongings according to their interest in one item or another, inspired by the Montessori educational approach.

What is the educational value of this product?

Storage furniture plays an important role in children’s development because it facilitates independence.
For Maria Montessori, it is one of the essential elements of the prepared environment in which children freely engage in their activities and “work.” It also supports them during the sensitive period for order, from birth to approximately age 6.
This idea of supporting the development of independence applies to all active educational approaches.

Shelves are one of the places where children can find the tools or materials they need for their craftwork in Steiner education or for projects within the Reggio Emilia approach. 
They will also find their tools, which are dear to Célestin Freinet, and their games, which are essential for Ovide Decroly, as well as their “gifts” and “occupations” in the work of Friedrich Fröbel. 

They will support our children’s independent activities, which are fundamental in the Pikler-Lóczy approach. 
This is also where they will go to find their “living books,” so important to Charlotte Mason, where they will discover extraordinary stories and characters that will nourish their imaginations, just as they nourished ours.
 

What is its value from a neuroscience perspective?

What is sensorimotor development?

Sensorimotor development is the process through which children develop their senses and learn to perform, master, and coordinate their movements.

The senses include the best-known ones - sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch - as well as balance (through the vestibular system) and proprioception (the body’s position in space, provided by the somatosensory system). 

These different senses work together and in coordination with the motor system.

In terms of motor development, two main categories of motor skills can be distinguished:

• gross motor skills, which refer to movements of the entire body or of the body’s larger limbs and muscles (legs, arms, torso, head),
• fine motor skills, which refer to movements of smaller muscles and limbs (fingers, hands, wrists, feet, ankles, toes, lips, tongue).

What is cognitive development?

Cognitive development is the process through which children acquire, organize, and learn to use knowledge. Cognitive skills are numerous and varied, and are orchestrated by executive functions. They include, among other things, language, goal-directed behavior, planning, cognitive flexibility, short-term memory (or working memory), long-term memory, the ability to avoid distraction, and the ability to control emotional reactions.

• This item is made to order and has a manufacturing lead time of 1-4 weeks. Delivery then takes 5 business days.
• Shipping is handled by FedEx or GLS, except in exceptional circumstances. 
• Once your package has been shipped, a tracking number will be sent to you by email.

Returns 

Have you received your item but it is not suitable for you? Don’t worry, you have 14 days from the date of receipt of your package to return the product concerned. 

As a small family business, we are unfortunately not yet able to cover postage costs, so return costs are the customer’s responsibility and returns must be sent to the country from which this product was shipped, Poland.

To be eligible for a return, please ensure that the following conditions are met :

• The product must arrive in its original, complete condition (packaging, accessories, instructions).
• The request must not concern custom-made products for which the customer provided personalization details (for example, a cutting or manufacturing dimension).

Please understand that we cannot accept assembled, used, or worn items because they cannot be resold.

Refund 

The refund will be issued within 14 days of receipt of the products, for the full amount of the returned products, using the same payment method as the one used when placing the order.
