Educational value

What are the educational benefits of this product?

Through its playful nature, which encourages movement, the motor skills course is perfectly suited to play. It inspires children to express their creativity and exercise their imagination, elements that are so important in active learning.

As advocated by Pikler-Lóczy pedagogy, children will develop their motor skills freely, learn about their bodies, and master their movements. They will adopt a variety of postures as they climb onto it, climb down from it, scale it, straddle it, and move the modules that make it up. They will jump onto it and into it, and learn to get themselves out of its ball pit.

The motor skills course supports children during the sensitive periods of movement coordination and order identified by Maria Montessori, which children experience respectively between approximately 18 months and 4 years of age, and from birth to approximately 6 years of age.

What are its benefits from a neuroscience perspective?

  • Contribution to sensory-motor development* (*Through movement and postural adjustment).
  • Strengthening neural circuits through the repetition of movements.

What is sensory-motor development?

Sensory-motor development is the process through which children develop their senses and learn to perform, control, and coordinate their movements.

The senses include the best-known ones: sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch, as well as balance (thanks to the vestibular system) and proprioception (the position of the body in space, provided by the somatosensory system).

These different senses work together and in conjunction with the motor system.

In terms of motor development, two main categories of motor skills can be distinguished:

  • gross motor skills, which refer to movements involving the whole body or the body’s larger limbs and muscles (legs, arms, torso, head),
  • fine motor skills, which refer to movements involving smaller muscles and limbs (fingers, hands, wrists, feet, ankles, toes, lips, tongue).

What age groups is it suitable for?

The motor skills course can be used as soon as your child can stand independently and can be enjoyed throughout childhood.

What are the benefits of this product in summary?

  • Discover the world around them.
  • Develop their motor skills, including fine motor skills.
  • Practice everyday tasks.
  • Learn to be independent.
  • Build self-confidence.
  • Collaborate on projects with guidance from their parents.
