This artisanal cooker was designed with the desire to fulfill a dual function: to contribute to the development of the child and to offer them a healthy and sustainable alternative for this imitation game so emblematic of childhood.
It includes all the equipment needed to cook real-fake meals with an oven with magnetic door, a cupboard, removable hobs and sink, a faucet and a drawer.
Our children will sometimes (or often!) ask us to taste their recipes, but will also be able to help us with daily kitchen tasks by transforming their stove into a worktop, by simply removing the removable plates and sink. Their ingenious magnetic fixing system allows them to be dismantled and reassembled in a few seconds, depending on the desires and usage of the moment.
Thanks to their cooker, our future adults reproduce scenes from their daily lives, the gestures and habits of their parents and those around them, learn to play with others, participate in the life of the house, and thus assimilate the rules, the codes and social roles, contributing to their socio-emotional development and the construction of their identity.
They learn to manipulate small objects, plan their actions, their behaviors are goal-oriented, and they thus develop their executive functions and their fine motor skills.

What is the educational benefit of this product?
Imitation games are part of childhood and the construction of identity. Rudolf Steiner also defines the first cycle of childhood, between 0 and 7 years, as that of imitation - during which he goes from being one with his mother to that of a social and autonomous individual, and where imaginative imitation will hold a determining place in the same way as open play. The child will learn and discover, but also express his creativity and the cooker will be a support for the expression of the “100 languages”, a pillar of Reggio pedagogy.
It is through imitation play that the child will reproduce the behaviors he observes around him, from simple imitation to the creation of complex scenarios and role-playing games in which he is no longer the actor. principal but the director.
Jean-Ovide Decroly considered imitation and play as “anticipatory instincts”, essential maturation factors which give him a global understanding of reality. For Célestin Freinet, through imitation, just like observation or reading, the individual appropriates the experience of others, diversifying and accelerating his personal experience.
The importance of observation is found in Maria Montessori, who described the role of the absorbing mind in the child's learning and the importance for him to follow his mother everywhere to observe the world. Through support for imitation games and help in the kitchen, the cook will contribute to sensitive periods of coordination of movements (from approximately 18 months to 4 years), order (0 to 6 years), social behavior (more or less 2 years to 6 years), refinement of the senses (around 18 months - 5 years), and small objects (during his second year).
Participating, cooking “for real”, with their parents gives the child the opportunity to learn about real things in the real world, as recommended by Charlotte Mason.
What is the interest from a neuroscience point of view?
- Participation in sensorimotor, cognitive and socio-affective development* (*Through imitation of activities in the kitchen that require precision and planning (arranging and arranging small objects), role plays and interactions with adults and other children.)
- Strengthening neural circuits through repetition of gestures, tasks and interactions.
What is sensorimotor development?
Sensorimotor development is the process by which children develop their senses and learn to perform, control and coordinate their movements.
The senses include the best known ones: sight, hearing, smell, taste, touch, but also balance (thanks to the vestibular system) and proprioception (position of the body in space, given by the somatosensory system).
These different senses work in concert with each other and with the motor system.
On the side of motor development, we can distinguish two main categories of motor skills:
- gross motor skills, which refers to movements of the whole body or the large limbs and muscles of the body (legs, arms, trunk, head),
- fine motor skills, which refers to the movements of smaller muscles and limbs (fingers, hands, wrists, feet, ankles, toes, lips, tongue).
What is cognitive development?
Cognitive development is the process by which children acquire, organize and learn to use knowledge. Cognitive skills are numerous, varied, and are orchestrated by executive functions. They include, among others, language, goal-directed behaviors, planning, cognitive flexibility, short-term memory (or working memory), long-term memory, the ability not to be distracted, to control emotional reactions, etc.
What is socio-emotional development?
Social-emotional development is the process by which children acquire the ability to understand, express and manage their thoughts, emotions and behavior.
Social and emotional skills are also directly linked to how they perceive themselves and develop relationships with others.
What age groups is it suitable for?
The cooker is used from the moment the child begins to imitate the activities of adults in his games and to contribute to household chores, from around 18 months. Imitation games are useful until around the age of 4 to 6, and children can play them alone or with others.
